Todd Wagner

CEO and Co-Founder

Todd Wagner is a tech billionaire and media entrepreneur who has spent his career challenging norms and driving innovation across multiple industries. He helped introduce streaming media to the world when he co-founded Broadcast.com with Mark Cuban in the late 1990s. As CEO, Wagner led the company’s record-breaking IPO and $5.7 billion sale to Yahoo!, landing him on the cover of The Wall Street Journal, Forbes 400 and Fortune’s 40 Under 40.

In 2003, Wagner and Cuban co-founded 2929 Entertainment, vertically integrating a portfolio of companies spanning content production, distribution, and exhibition. Today, 2929 media properties include 2929 Productions, Magnolia Pictures, and Spotlight Cinema Networks. As CEO, Wagner pioneered the practice of releasing films simultaneously in theaters and on digital platforms and has produced or executive-produced more than 50 films and television projects, including Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature; and Good Night, and Good Luck, nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

In 2025, Wagner was an Executive Producer of the stage adaptation of Good Night, and Good Luck starring George Clooney. The play broke box-office records on Broadway and received five Tony Award nominations. He was also an EP, along with Clooney, Grant Heslov, and Jeff Skoll, of the exclusive, first-of-its-kind, live worldwide broadcast of the closing night production of the play across CNN properties.

Other notable 2929 releases include Akeelah and the Bee, We Own the Night, The Road, Please Stand By, The China Hustle, Serena, Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience, and The League, which was a three-time Critics' Choice nominee and is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes with a 96% score.

Wagner is a longtime Board member of the American Film Institute and previously served on the Board of the Tribeca Film Institute. After making headlines in 2005 for releasing Soderbergh’s Bubble simultaneously in theaters and digitally, Wagner and Cuban were honored at the IFP Gotham Awards with a Tribute Award recognizing their innovative work.

Wagner has also been a disruptor in the charitable space. In 2014 he launched the Charity Network, helping thousands of charities raise hundreds of millions of dollars for worldwide causes through digital fundraising platforms Charitybuzz and Prizeo. Since 2000, the Todd Wagner Foundation has implemented Wagner’s vision of venture philanthropy by investing in cutting-edge programs that empower underserved communities and at-risk youth. The Foundation brought KIPP charter schools and After-School All-Stars to North Texas and provides significant support for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and First Tee.

In 2023, Wagner launched FoodFight USA, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization with a mission to clean up America’s tainted food supply, which has contributed to an alarming rise in chronic disease and early death in our country. Wagner is leveraging innovative, technology-driven solutions to transform every aspect of our broken food system - from farm to table - with a focus on legislative reform, consumer empowerment, and regenerative agriculture. Among his initiatives is an AI-powered system to evaluate the 10,000+ chemical additives in our food supply, prioritizing those that pose the greatest risk to public health.

Wagner is a former stakeholder in the Dallas Mavericks and a current owner of the Dallas Flash Major League Pickleball team. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including Town & Country’s Top Philanthropists of the Year, the Texas Business Hall of Fame, and Kappa Sigma’s National Man of the Year and a 2025 Hall of Honor inductee.
