Todd Wagner

Todd Wagner is an entrepreneur committed to a lifelong career of innovation in the media, technology, entertainment, and charitable spaces.

In 1995, Wagner introduced streaming media to the world when he launched Broadcast.com with business partner Mark Cuban. Broadcast.com was one of the first platforms to stream live sporting events, corporate events and radio stations over the Internet. As CEO, Wagner helped take the company public in 1998, where it set an opening-day record with shares climbing 249% from an offering price of $18 to a closing price of $62.75. In 1999, Wagner and Cuban sold Broadcast.com to Yahoo! for $5.7 billion.

In 2003, Wagner began building Wagner/Cuban Companies, a vertically integrated portfolio of companies spanning content creation, distribution and exhibition through 2929 Entertainment, 2929 Productions, Magnolia Pictures, Landmark Theatres and AXS TV. As CEO of 2929 Entertainment, Wagner has produced or executive-produced more than 50 films, including the Oscar®-nominated Good Night, and Good Luck and Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room. Other 2929 releases include Akeelah and the Bee, We Own the Night, The Road, Please Stand By, The China Hustle and Serena.

In 2005, Wagner made headlines when 2929 pioneered the practice of releasing films simultaneously in theaters, on digital platforms and DVD with the release of Steven Soderbergh’s Bubble. The following year Wagner and Cuban were honored at the annual IFP Gotham Awards with a Tribute Award recognizing their innovative work.

Wagner is on the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors of the American Film Institute, and previously served on the Board of the Tribeca Film Institute. He also owns a stake in the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks team.

Wagner has also been a disrupter in the charitable world. In 2014 he founded Charity Network, a company that harnesses the power of celebrity, technology and media to raise awareness and funds for causes around the world. He recently launched Cause Reports, providing donors with investment-style analysis of America’s largest charities. He has also committed millions of dollars and his own time and energy to helping improve the lives of at-risk children through the Todd Wagner Foundation.
